The moment the missing scope appeared
An operator saw that the breather silica gel had changed color. The quickest response was to replace the desiccant. The maintenance lead asked for oil level, oil temperature, the air path, seals and bladder condition to be checked at the same time. The visible gel was only one window into a larger system.
Why the shortcut was dangerous
The conservator accommodates oil expansion; the bladder separates oil from outside air; the breather dries exchanged air. If the pipe is blocked, the seal leaks or the bladder is damaged, new silica gel alone will not restore oil preservation.

Oil level must be interpreted against temperature and the complete breathing arrangement. An unusual level can relate to leakage, trapped air, valve position, blockage, bladder condition or the gauge itself.
