During a load test, every fan showed “running,” yet the transformer temperature continued to rise. The status lamps were correct—but they proved only that motors had started. A valve position, oil-flow condition and cooling-bank response still had to be verified.
Why the shortcut was dangerous
Cooling is a heat path. Heat must leave the windings, enter the oil, reach the cooler and transfer to air or water. Fan rotation is only the final visible part. A failed pump, closed valve, wrong airflow, dirty radiator, lost auxiliary supply or incorrect control stage can interrupt the chain.
