If the United States isn't on that list, the next question isn't "why not?" — it's "what's your plan and timeline for the certifications my market requires?" A serious manufacturer already has that answer ready.
Dimension 4: Production Quality — The FAT Is Your Last Line of Defense
The moment of truth isn't the quote. It's the Factory Acceptance Test.
A real quality system has five hard markers: in-house test lab with calibrated equipment and valid calibration stickers; a written Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) before production starts; FAT reports from previous projects they'll let you see — with numbers, not green checkmarks, with acceptance criteria, with an inspector's signature; full traceability from raw material to finished product; and a documented non-conformance procedure.

- Is the shipment insured? Against what risks?
- Warranty — written, specific, with committed response times?
